What I'm doing now

(This is a now page, and if you have your own site, you should make one, too.)

Work

After more than 7 years at Dropsolid, I decided in June to take a break.

During that break I reflected on what I truely want to do. The conclusion is what motivates me most, is solving complex problems with practical impact, continuous learning, and open collaboration.

I also moved my own company from a secondary occupation (bijberoep) to a main occupation (hoofdberoep).

Since end of October, I joined GitLab as a contractor in the DevRel Engineering team.

My main focus right now is exploring the capabilities and practical use of agentic engineering with GitLab Duo Agent Platform. I am currently working on AI-related systems and ecosystem acceleration around the GitLab Duo Agent Platform, with a strong preference for approaches that can benefit from open-source collaboration.

Personal

Since the reset period after the role change, I kept the same health-focused habits and pushed them further. Cutting back on sugar had a strong positive impact: I lost significant weight, feel healthier, and have much more stable energy during the day.

I also have more time for family life now, which is a major improvement. I can bring the kids to school daily, spend more regular time with them, and keep a better rhythm between work and home.

Even though I work from home, that setup actually improves my work-life balance significantly.

Projects

My main project right now is this website itself. It is where I want to document what I discover, what I am building, and how ideas evolve over time.

In that sense, this blog is the catalyst for sharing other projects I am working on, including agentic prototypes and workflow experiments as they become ready to publish.

Community

Community work is currently low. I still contribute small fixes and improvements to packages and ecosystems I run into, but I am not taking an active role in a specific community at the moment.
