About me

I’m Mattias Michaux (Mollux), a Belgium-based product and solution architect who also works hands-on as a full-stack engineer. Open source has been the foundation of my professional path for more than 20 years, and it still shapes how I build, collaborate, and share work.

This page focuses on who I am and how I work. For short-term updates on current focus, see the Now page.

Work

I work primarily as an architect: product architect, solution / enterprise architect, technical lead, … My core contribution is designing systems that are coherent across product, platform, and operations, then leading teams through implementation with clear ownership, quality standards, and long-term maintainability in mind.

I also stay hands-on as a full-stack engineer in the broad sense. For me, full stack includes front- and backend development as well as the full platform and infrastructure chain: compute, networking, container runtimes, observability, scaling, and production operations. I thrive in managing the application and infrastructure as part of one system.

Programming language or framework is not a constraint in that process. The key is understanding the problem correctly and then implementing the right solution in the language and stack that fit the context.

My strongest work is on multi-layer problem solving where there is no single-layer fix. The same systems approach applies to AI and agentic engineering: usable outcomes depend on architecture, platform reliability, and implementation details working together.

Open source

Open source software is foundational to my professional path. It enabled me to learn, build, and grow early in my career, and it still shapes how I choose tools, platforms, and ecosystems today.

I all started with Drupal because I could use it, inspect it, and contribute to it. That pattern stayed consistent across my work: I prefer open systems where I can build, improve, and give back instead of only consuming what others produce.

Ecosystems and community

Various other ecosystems

I’m also contributing to various other ecosystems, whenever I encounter an issue while thinkering around.
These include Home Assistant, Langflow, Node.js, CiviCRM, …

Security

I also have an urge to try and break stuff, mainly on security level.
The "what if I try this? or that?" question pops up in my head when I see input validation logic, header parsing, …

Speaking and knowledge sharing

I regularly share practical lessons from architecture, platform engineering, and real-world delivery constraints.

Typical topics: architecture trade-offs, reliability, scaling, infrastructure operations, and AI/agentic engineering in production.
